CELEBRATING OUR 16th SEASON
Joshua Nash Wortham is a native of Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Music in Church Music (Vocal Emphasis) from Campbellsville University in May 2004. During his college career, Joshua was a member of the University Chorale, Chamber Choir and Handbell Choir (all auditioned ensembles) as well as the opera workshop performing the roles of Guglielmo (Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte) and Frank (Strauss’ Die Fledermaus). As a sophomore, he was featured as a solo pianist accompanied by the CU Concert Band. In May 2004, Joshua co-directed a performance tour with the Chamber Project throughout Brazil. This group gave the international premier of his choral suite, “Generations Sing Praise.” During the summer months, Joshua was active with Kadasha, the praise and worship ministry for the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church based at Lake Junaluska, NC.
Joshua has served churches in Kentucky and Virginia and is currently the Music Director/Organist at Chester United Methodist Church, just south of Richmond, VA. This music ministry is responsible for three weekly worship services and 14 music groups. Mr. Wortham worked for 4 years with One Voice Chorus of Richmond whose mission is to promote racial reconciliation.
Mr. Wortham has performed concerts throughout the Southeastern United States as well as Italy and Brazil. He is popular as a choral clinician, solo artist on piano and voice, guest conductor, accompanist, composer and an adjudicator for music events. Joshua has also coached churches on developing new worship services and enhancing corporate worship experiences.
Mr. Wortham formed the Chester Community Chorus in June 2007 in an effort to enrich cultural life in Chesterfield County. Joshua is trying his hand at community theater. Joshua has worked as the music director for “Ring of Fire: the Johnny Cash Musical Show,” “Das Barbecu,” and “Annie Get Your Gun” with Henrico Theatre Company. And more shows are in the works!
When he’s not at the piano, the organ or a microphone, Joshua can be found spending time with his dog, Gilligan.
About the Men’s Chorus
Our group is over 40 men strong and always looking for more to join our group. We enjoy sharing our talents of singing with the RVA and surrounding communities. Performing 2 major concerts/events each year, the chorus gives numerous public and private concert performances, and also produces an extremely popular cabaret series featuring our individual talent. We have performed the National Anthem three times at the Richmond Flying Squirrels games. The chorus continues to develop its program of musical outreach to senior living facilities in the central Virginia area and supports community events throughout the region from Classical to Pop and everything in between.
In this, our 16th season, the chorus is excited about reaching audiences old and new by presenting a wide variety of musical experiences. Be sure to join us…you won’t want to miss a single note!
